Here are the Visitor's Tales for Clyde Holliday State Recreation Site.
Just wanted to let you know what a fabulous experience we had on our trip to Clyde Holliday state park near John Day.
We rented both teepees available at the park. They were clean, spacious and the kids loved them. The park is beautiful and relatively small. The teepees are separated from the main campground and sit in the day use park. It was like we had the whole day use park as our front yard. We all had fun playing soccer in the park, innertubing down the John Day river and seeing the sites around the park.
The campground host, Bill, is fabulous. He was helpful and friendly. He loaned us lanterns, told us all about the sites near the park, checked with us several times to make sure we had everything we needed, talked to the kids, helped carry all of our camping supplies from the car to the teepee sites on his tractor, closed our teepee flaps when we went off camping and left them open and it started to rain, etc...
What a wonderful experience. Can't wait to go back next year!

Well, I'd have to say that Clyde Holliday is our favorite park! We first went there about 15 years ago. We were the only ones there, so we parked along the river, set up our chairs, and began to experience beautiful nature. We logged 18 different kinds of birds in our Roger Tory Peterson Bird Book in about 2 hours. From there we visited John Day's great, old-fashion drug store, the Fossil Beds, drove around Strawberry Mountain (in the snow) and set forever a dreamy memory in our happy thoughts about our treasured place to visit.
