VISITOR TALES: UMPQUA LIGHTHOUSE STATE PARK

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Umpqua Lighthouse State Park.

We spent two weeks in the Oregon cabins at Loeb, Umqua and Cape Blanco. It was a toss-up which we liked better between Loeb and Umqua. Both parks are absolutely beautiful. We are planning a trip in August of 2000 and plan to return to Umpqua - hopefully, we can hit Loeb also. I would highly recommend either of these campgrounds.

My husband and I normally camp in our trailer and while looking at Umpqua State Park for camping sites we found that they have "deluxe" yurts!! We peeked into the windows of one and they are wonderful. They have bathrooms w/showers , a microwave and a refrigerator. Also a TV that has a VCR(no reception). They overlook Lake Marie and are right near the ocean. What a wonderful , quiet place to stay. We reserved one and spent 2 nights there. We plan to go back as once was not enough!!

We spent three nights at this park this summer. The surroundings were beautiful and peaceful. We spent a wonderful day fishing and swimming at pretty little Lake Marie, within walking distance from the campgounds. Our negatives? 1. No soap dispensers in the bathrooms 2. The volunteers came about 1 pm. each day to clean each campsite with a leaf blower! Yikes! Way too loud and disruptive in a small, and otherwise lovely place.

Mostly happy camper
