VISITOR TALES: BEACHSIDE STATE RECREATION SITE

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Beachside State Recreation Site.

I just spent the past five days on the OR coast with my 6 yr. old and 15 1/2 yr. old children. We just had a great time and wanted to give some positive feedback! We stayed at Ft. Stevens, Cape Lookout and Beachside. All were very nice, the employees at each site were helpful and courteous. The showers could have been hotter at Ft. Stevens and Cape Lookout, but that's the only shortfall we could see! The solar power shower at Beachside was plenty hot enough. The scenery was great, the price affordable for us as we were travelling on a very low budget, and we enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and thanks for doing everything to provide such great weather! :-) We plan to return next summer around the same time and now we know the places of which we'd like to see more. State Parks are much nicer than the Forest Service Parks and personnel. Keep up the good work!

The last week in August, we stayed in a yurt at Beachside State Park! What a great location - next to the beach. After the first night, my 9 year old niece woke up and said she couldn't sleep because the cars were too noisy. But later she realized it really was the ocean she heard. She didn't complain about that again.

We enjoyed staying in this part of the state because of the scenery. We stayed at Wm. Tugman over Labor Day and didn't enjoy it nearly as much. The access to the beach was not as easy, unless you have a dune buggy.

I found out about the yurts on the internet and staying in them was fabulous. It is a great alternative to a hotel/motel. It is very affordable; we wouldn't have been able to afford this trip otherwise. I will recommend a yurt to anyone who wants to visit the coast. Many people do not even know what they are. It makes our vacation stories and our pictures very interesting.

We have many memories of our 10 day vacation at the coastal Oregon State Parks. No complaints from us.

Happy Campers from Minnesota

We live in British Columbia, Canada and absolutely love your state parks. The privacy, the beauty, they just cannot be beat. They are the only places we camp when we come to Oregon. With time restraints so far we have mainly been on the Oregon Coast. What an absolutely wonderful resource you have there, and what forethought on the part of your forefathers to dedicate the coast to the people. Someday, when we retire, we hope to become camp hosts. We were at Beachside at the end of April and there was a lovely couple hosting the park. Gosh but they worked hard to make everything clean and tidy. They said they had been camping in Oregon State Parks for 30 years and this was their way of keeping the parks. Believe me, we would like to contribute in the same way. Thanks Oregon, for giving us such grand times when we come and visit your beautiful state.

We spent about a week in the parks in Oregon and were quite impressed. The parks were well kept, clean, accessible and good value for the money. We stayed in Sunset Bay, Beachside, and Ft. Stevens. Having electricity, water and sewer to the site was a definite advantage. Seems to be a lot of money being spent on the upgrading of Ft. Stevens. Wish we could have some of that done up here in B.C. Oregon parks were the best we saw on our trip and among the best we have visited in western North America. Keep up the good work.

I would like to inform you all of the absolute outstanding service my wife and I recieved at the Beachside State park. In perticular I would like to give a great thumbs up to Judith, who went way out of her way to accomidate us and help us with our needs. We were there on the eve of 8/3 and then left on 8/4 and continued our trip to California. Upon returning back up the coast it was no question where we were going to spend the night on 8/10. TO our delight Judith was on shift again and wewere pleased. We would like to think that she reflects all the persons working at Oregon Parks, because if this is the case you will see us again and again.

We spent a lovely week on the Oregon coast as we do every year. The stay at beachside is our favorite (we had to split our time this year between South Beach and Beachside). The parks are the best ever.

We are coming to Beachside State Park on 9/26 for a week. We have stayed at your park for many years. And love the way the park is always clean. The hosts are by far the friendliest always ready to help and to give info. We hate to leave we hope when we retire in 15 years that we can be part of Oregon State Park family. Can't wait to get back.
