VISITOR TALES: LAKE OWYHEE STATE PARK

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Lake Owyhee State Park.

We just returned from a very nice week at the Lake Owyhee State Park. This was our second trip to that State Park this year and we would like to let you know that we were very pleased at all of the facilities we found there. The park was continually being maintained by park employees and by the Camp Host that was there the week of Sept. 7th. Their last name was Turner and I would like to let you know that they were very helpful and treated the park as if it was their home and wanted to keep it a nice place to visit and invite friends and families.

Once again, Thank you for maintaining a little of heaven for all to visit and stay in.

I was just viting the web-site for Lake Owyhee and clicked on the "Vistors Tales" and wanted to give my bucks worth, so to speak. My husband, daughter and I are counting down the days until we leave next week for our 5th annual Lake Owyhee Summer Fun Vacation. We've joined in with a group of families that have been visiting the Lake and State Park for almost 10 years. Our numbers are now up to more than 25 folks! I can't say enough about this beautiful park and lake - hidden in Eastern Oregon. We drive more than eight hours to camp, water ski, fish and play for nine days! The sites are truly breathtaking, the water is so warm and all the people we meet are so nice. Special memories of the last several years include beautiful full moons over the lake, finding a "honey hole" for catching the elusive crappy, and watching my daughter swim like a dolphin! Lake Owyhee is a true treasure! I'd also encourage folks that the Lake isn't so far away from towns like Vale and Ontario that you can't take a day trip to town to see the sites. The Four Rivers Cultural Center in Ontario is something everyone should see.
