Here are the Visitor's Tales for Nehalem Bay State Park.
Folks, we just returned from a week long vacation around Oregon. We sought out Oregon State Parks as part of our plan for the trip and really enjoyed ourselves because of it. We spent 2 days at Nehalem Bay State Park, one day at Washburne State Park, one day at Cape Blanco State Park, a day at Oregon Caves National Monument (link opens a new browser window), and one day at LaPine State Park.
The Parks and Rec employees as well as the camp hosts were very friendly, professional and helpful. The parks themselves were clean and accommodating of our large group (two families in tents). Our trip did not include a rigid itinerary, and in scouting for campgrounds, we visited several private, Corps, and Forest Service camp areas.
By far, the Oregon State Parks campgrounds were the best. And the day-use State Parks were the best stops over several commercial or private areas. Great job. We were all impressed and plan to include Oregon State Parks in our future travel plans to your state.

Dear Oregon park people,
I cannot overstate how happy we were with our camping experience in your cool parks! We camped for 3 nights on the primitive side of Viento State Park. This was one of the most charming campsites I've ever seen. The area was sooo green and the waterfall was beautiful. This must be God's country. The sites were well maintained. The restrooms were clean and well stocked. The trains come awfully close, yet they sound quite enchanting in the middle of the night.
After Viento, we moved on to Nehalem Bay. This campsite was pristine in it's beauty. Great restrooms (again). The short walk to the beach, a couple of hundred yards over the dunes, was invigorating and afforded awesome views and sand dollar collecting opportunities. We loved it!!! Thanx so much.

Dear Mark and Gary,
Thanks so much for helping the Newell, Slatter, McNeill, Hampton and Curtis families ring in the New Year at the park. It was a great party made better
by your presence.

Our family of five just returned home after a trip to your
beautiful state. We spent one night at Nehalem Bay and went
down the coast the next night to stay at South Beach. My 3
kids, ages 3,4, and 8 all thoroughly enjoyed themselves,
despite the little rain we had. We made use of the
yurts, which were a great introduction to camping for them.
We hope to make this trip a little more often in the
future. Until the next time, thanks for your hospitality.
P.S., Thank Ms. Golightly at Nehalem Bay for her
friendliness!

Nehalem Bay State Park is one of the nicest State Parks we've ever visited.
We spent 5 nights camping there in July 2000 and just loved the place. With
the 5 minute walk to the ocean or a 10 minute peddle to beautiful Nehalem
Bay, what more could you ask for. We couldn't help but notice how quiet the
park was in the evening hours -- so peaceful (not the blaring radios and
boom box noises that we usually encounter in our own Washington State
parks!). We'll be back to your beautiful park many times, I'm sure.

My husband and I visited Nehalem Bay with our horses in August of this year.
The campsites were great - and the sunset gallops on the beach were...well,
it just doesn't get much better than that. We will be back! Thank you for a
wonderful experience.
