VISITOR TALES: BEVERLY BEACH STATE PARK

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Beverly Beach State Park.

My memories of camping in Oregon as a child are of switching camp areas as we looked for fair weather. We always found somewhere to stay and have a great time. My memories as an adult are as fond. My husband and I and our two children have camped during spring break on the Oregon Coast three times now. The first two trips my parents also came along. We've had rain and sun, with more sun than rain fortunately. No matter the weather though, we've always had a great time.

Our favorite campground is Beverly Beach, outside of Newport. The facilities there are great! Where else do you get heated individual showers for free! There is a great variety of campsites at Beverly Beach, but we prefer the G loop, near the playground. The sun comes in and dries the sites. The play area and large grass and sand areas are close. The sites are private, clean and level. We all love the beach access right from the campground, the last two years we've found agates on the beach. Stores are nearby for supplies and the Oregon Aquarium [is] right down the highway. We know we'll be back and have a great time again.

Hi. My family and I have been coming to your campground for at least 5 years now. We enjoy the activities that entertain us every day down there such as your beautiful, sandy beach with the creek that connects to it which provides our little people with as much fun as the older ones. We also are in love with your fun park and the coolest ampatheather, which has the most fasinating movies that educated us and fully entertain us. Another thing we love down there is your trails that let us explore nature and Spencer Creek sure is a blast! We also love the fact that you are in a reserved area, but close enough to many other fun things to do such as, the Newport Aquarium, Lincon City Outlet Mall, Depoe Bay and so much more!

Another thing that lures us to your campground is how nice and private your campgrounds are. They are very spacious and clean with many facilities. We are totally loving the fact that you guys have heated, clean showers, so we can get as sandy as we want down at the beach and then crawl into bed clean. The location is a great place, for you enjoy the chirping sounds of birds in the day and the clicking sounds of crickits at night. We also have been able to experience the beauty of whales down at your beach. There are many, many other things I would love to say about this campground, but in too many words.

Our experience of the coast is Beverly Beach. We went there with our children and their friends until they left for home, [but] that didn't stop us. We come over every chance we get. Our mountains in central Oregon are great, but they're nothing like the sound of the ocean. The sites are great, and we have been in most areas of the park. We can't say enough about how great it is come to the coast. [For a] tenter, Beverly Beach is the place.

Happy tenters

I love Beverly beach. My boyfriend and I were driving down the coast wanting to find a place to camp on the beach. we were lucky enough to come across the Beverly beach camp ground.

As soon as we got our spot in the campground (which was perfect) we took a walk down the beach. It was very cloudy that day but extremely beautiful, and soon we found a log to sit on and watch the ocean.

My boyfriend then asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! It was the most perfectly romantic spot in the world for such an occasion, I will never forget it, and I cannot wait to go back!

As a child I spent nearly every August at Cape Lookout since my grandparents lived in Tillamook. There was no better place to be as a kid. We played in the ocean until we were red from the cold water, spent wonderful hours hiking, making sand candles, eating fresh crab and roasting marshmallows over the campfire. When I moved to Oregon I had to take my child to Cape Lookout. Mom rented us a yurt two summers in a row. Each time it rained at night but we had a wonderful time. Now I live in Southern California and last summer, 2002, I took my son back to Oregon to camp. We spent one night in Melamoose, a glorious three days at Ft. Stevens and three days at Beverly Beach. We were unable to reserve a spot at Cape Lookout, but this year I am so excited because we have a spot for four nights with our motor home. I cannot wait to spend time back in my old stomping grounds as a kid with my son who is now old enough to really enjoy the park, trails and beach.
