Here are the Visitor's Tales for The Cove Palisades State Park.
Some of my favorite memories from childhood come from my visits to the Cove Palisades State Park.
My family used to go there every year on Memorial Day Weekend. It is a beautiful, majestic park that I will treasure the memories of always. I sadly have not visited for 6 years now. But I am looking forward to my next visit. I finally get to go back next year...if I can get reservations for memorial day weekend :-)
Thanks for the memories!

We recently had our family camping trip at The Cove. It is one of our favorite places to camp. We love the rustic beauty that surrounds the camp, the fishing, and just enjoying the beauty of the water. Great place! On our last trip my sister thought she had lost her earring in the shower room. A very kind park employee searched everyhere for it. She was very kind, and thoughtful. She also does a great job of keeping the restrooms snd showers clean. She realized how upset my sis was and went aout of her way to help. We all thank her. The vacation was great. Lots of deer in the camp too. We stayed in the lower Deschutes.

We camped at both the Deschutes and Crooked River sites this past 4th of July holiday.
The Deschutes campground was well-maintained and serviced by hosts and staff. The view of the cliffs behind us was also very nice. The downside was that this campground seemed to attract a younger party crowd, making it difficult to get to sleep. The loud music during the daytime hours was also quite annoying.
The Crooked River site was also well-maintained and serviced. It seemed to have more families with children (great for us with a 14 month old) and plenty of area to ride bikes and play. This campground was also quieter (althought the view was not quite as nice). The grassy areas were also great for children (the Deschutes site was dry and dusty). The 4th of July bicycle parade and watermelon feed was a nice touch, too.
Overall, our experience at this state park was very good, and we are hoping to reserve a site (at the Crooked River site) for next year.

I want to write a commendation note to the staff of the Crooked River Campground for the Cove Palisades, Lake Billy Chinook. WAY back in January we made reservations to stay two weeks at the Deschutes Campground. Unfortunately we had to reserve two spaces in dry camp, as everything was already reserved - amazing! Regardless we were fine w/ our reservations.
So on the day to arrive we pulled into the Crooked River Campground w/ the idea of taking on potable water since we were going to be dry camped in our motor home. There wasn't any! unless one went into a camping spot! So I pulled up to the office and Ranger Michelle and her staff were there and convinced us we'd really be ahead to stay at Crooked River Campground. She reviewed our reservations, looked at our motor home, pick up towing a boat, and said she thought she could put something together for us - LO and BEHOLD, she did! They even took care of cancelling our reservations at the Deschutes Campground!
We were and are very grateful as it was hotter than the hinges! and w/o electricity and water, would have been almost unbearable for us and our animals.
I can assure you, although we have camped many years at the Cove Palisades State Parks, that we will return. Best of all is the exemplary Customer Service exercised by the Oregon State Parks!
