VISITOR TALES: HARRIS BEACH STATE PARK

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Harris Beach State Park.

Our trip to Loeb in August was picture-perfect. We and some friends stayed in two of the new cabins overlooking the Chetco River and the kids loved it. We had a hard time pulling them from the nice little wading area there. I actually got to sneak out in the wee hours one morning and do some fishing (it's been a while). I didn't catch anything, but saw hundreds of newts.

With the fresh scent of the myrtle trees, this has got to be one of the best-smelling parks we've ever been to. We took off one day and played on the surf at Harris Beach. It was great. Thanks.

I would like to thank all of the people who work at Harris Beach for making our week stay one that we will always remember. The kids (adults too) really enjoyed the nightly programs. I would especially like to thank all of the people who work there on how clean they keep the park, and when a problem arises, how quickly they are on top of it. AGAIN THANKS TO ALL!

Our family started camping at Harris Beach a few years ago...and we keep coming back every year!

We love the campground, the many trails, the short walk to the beaches and the clean bathrooms/showers. We travel from out of state just to come to Harris Beach State Park each year. "The Jewel of Southern Oregon".

Even Tanner our dog loves the trails to the beaches. Good job Oregon and we'll see you in July.

For the 4th year in a row, we have made our coastal trip up and down the Oregon Coast starting with Fort Stevens and ending up with Harris State park. We have traveled a great deal of the USA and find your parks rate as the very best. We look forward to our yearly trip up your way and will continue to do so in the future. Keep up the good work.
