VISITOR TALES: DETROIT LAKE STATE RECREATION AREA

Dear OPRD,

Here are the Visitor's Tales for Detroit Lake State Recreation Area.

We just came back from Detroit Lake State Park. Not only were the staff and park hosts great, but the kids just loved your new playground in A Loop. We had a site right next to it and they sure had fun. This was my 4 yr olds first camping trip, first he didn't want to stay, then he didn't want to leave. The weekend activities for kids were also GREAT!

Thanks so much. We will return to this park.

Kim Miller

Detroit Lake has been one our favorite places to camp for over 20 years.

When our kids were little we splashed in the shallows, rode bikes, and roasted marshmallows over the campfire. For the last couple years we have really enjoyed the sailing opportunities this lake provides with its reliable afternoon winds. It is definitely on our annual plan for places to go!

The attached photos were taken in Aug. 99 on our new sailboat, a West Wight Potter 19, Second Wind).
